What the latest PadelDropIn update brings: 1v1 open matches, alerts only for the times you play, a Monday recap, partner and opponent stats, and new themes.
A lot has landed in the PadelDropIn app over the past few weeks, and most of it fixes things players keep bringing up: how to get a game when there aren't four of you, how to stop your phone buzzing about slots you'd never play, and who you actually win with most. Here's what's new and how to use it.
Short answer: the latest PadelDropIn update adds 1v1 (singles) open matches that count towards your level, player suggestions when your match is a player short, alerts only for the days and hours you choose, a weekly recap every Monday, records with your partners and opponents, favourite coaches, and ten app themes. All you need to do is update the app to the latest version.

Singles 1v1 matches
Padel is usually played in pairs, but sometimes there are only two of you. When you create an open match you now pick a format: "Doubles 2v2" (four players, full court) or "Singles 1v1" (two players, played on the diagonals).
What to know:
- A competitive singles match counts toward your level, just like doubles — both players' levels update after the match.
- You can filter the open-match list by format — all formats, doubles only or singles only.
- Singles matches carry a 1v1 badge on their card, so you can tell them apart from doubles at a glance.
It's a good option for training with one partner, or for slots where getting four people together is hard.
Player suggestions when you're a player short
Until now, when you needed one more player you had to know who to look for and type their name. Now, when you invite someone to a match, the app suggests players who fit it — based on who has already played with your group, who plays at that club, who you follow and what level they are. Each suggestion says why it's there, so you're not picking blind. Search by name is still available underneath.
When a spot in a match frees up, the app now lets the players waiting in the queue know — or the organiser, if nobody is queued — so the empty spot gets filled faster.
If you're still building a crew, see how to find padel partners and start an open match.
Alerts only for games you'd actually play
New open-match alerts are only useful if they're for times you can play. Notification settings now include "When to reach me": pick your days (weeknights only, weekends only, whatever fits) and times of day — mornings, afternoons, evenings or late. The app then only alerts you about matches in those slots.
Quiet hours from 23:00 to 08:00 still apply, as before.
A weekly recap every Monday
Every Monday you get a short recap of the week before: how many matches you played, how many you won and lost, how long you spent on court and how much your level moved — plus how many clubs you played at, if it was more than one. It also shows the partner you won with most that week, and your streak — how many weeks in a row you've played.
A few things are deliberate:
- The recap only arrives if you played that week — nobody gets a "you didn't play last week" message.
- Only matches with a confirmed result count.
- Streaks are counted in weeks, not days, because padel is usually a once-to-three-times-a-week sport.
- The recap card sits on the home screen from Monday to Wednesday.
Who you win with: partner and opponent stats
The stats on your profile now include two new lists: partners and opponents. For each one you see how many matches you've played and the record — say, 12–3 — along with your win rate.
- Best partner is the one you have the highest win rate with, but only after at least three matches together — so one lucky win doesn't sit on top forever.
- The same rule applies to the opponent who gives you the most trouble.
- On another player's profile you'll also see a "You two" section: how often you've played together, how often against each other, and who won more.
Here too only matches with a confirmed result count, so the record always matches games that were actually played. The lists appear once you have at least three confirmed results.
When you're playing with new people, it also helps to know the unwritten rules — see padel etiquette: the unwritten rules of on-court behaviour.
Lessons and tournaments
- Favourite coaches: add up to three coaches to your favourites so they're quicker to find when you're looking for a lesson.
- Clearer lesson rosters: a lesson request now holds your spot until the coach confirms it, and the waitlist is easier to follow.
- Tournament results: when a tournament or event finishes, every player gets a notification that the final results are in.
Themes and the Supporter club
You can now change how the app looks — there are ten themes, dark and light. The default Stadium theme is free for everyone. The others are unlocked by Supporter status, which you get with a one-time tip to support the app and which lasts 12 months. Supporters also get a member number and a badge on their profile. You can preview locked themes before deciding.
You don't need Supporter status for any of the other features in this article — singles matches, player suggestions, alerts, the weekly recap and stats are available to everyone.
How to get the new features
- If you already have the app, update it to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play.
- If you don't have it yet, download the PadelDropIn app.
- Open notification settings and set up "When to reach me".
- Create or find an open match — doubles or singles.
You still book the court directly with the club and pay there, the same as before — the app helps you find players and organise the match.
